While the MiWiki utilizes MediaWiki software, we make a few departures from its common stylistic conventions. Most notably, we follow the recommendations of The Chicago Manual of Style Volume 18.
Layout
Articles should begin with an introduction, which may be accompanied by an infobox. The exact sections present in an article will depend on the subject-matter, but common sections should be in a consistent order.

Language
The MiWiki is written in American English. Spelling and definitions should broadly follow Merriam-Webster, and grammar should follow American English descriptions in The Cambridge Grammar of the English Language.
Typography
Dates
In regular text, the month should not be in numerals, and the format is month-day-year (Chicago Manual of Style, 18th ed. (2024), under “9.33 Month and day.”). Otherwise, the date may be written in ISO style (Chicago Manual of Style, 18th ed. (2024), under “9.38 ISO style for dates.”)
Numbers
Numbers use spaces as a thousands separator, except for in four-digit numbers. (Chicago Manual of Style, 18th ed. (2024), under “9.58 Space between digits (SI number style).”)
Quotation
Following The Chicago Manual, only directional quotation marks and apostrophes are used. (Chicago Manual of Style, 18th ed. (2024), under “6.123 ‘Smart’ quotation marks.”)
Outer quotations use double marks, while inner quotations use single marks.
Periods and commas go inside quotations (US Style). (Chicago Manual of Style, 18th ed. (2024), under “6.9 Periods and commas in relation to closing quotation marks.”)
When double and single quotation marks are adjacent, or apostrophes are adjacent to double or single quotation marks, a “NARROW NO-BREAK SPACE” (U+202F) should be inserted between them. Periods and commas go on the inside of both marks. (Chicago Manual of Style, 18th ed. (2024), under “6.11 Single quotation marks next to double quotation marks.”) Use the template “{{Qsp}}.”
Parentheses
If an entire sentence is parenthesized, then the closing punctuation should go inside the parentheses. (Chicago Manual of Style, 18th ed. (2024), under “6.104 Parentheses with other punctuation.”)
URI, URL, hyperlink
Due to the input sensitivity of URIs, they should be written in a monospaced font. Domain names alone, on the other hand, may be written in roman and capitalized.
Encoding and redirections
Ample redirections makes searching easier.
Japanese names should have western order redirects.
Keep in mind that decomposed and composed Unicode characters are treated as separate page titles; Page titles should be normalized to composed, and have normalized decomposed redirects. We may want to consider adding non-normalized redirects too.
Citations
The MiWiki aims to use citations properly, to promote integrity of information, and to point readers to the media they want to find. Because being a useful repository for finding specific Lucky Star media is one of the main goals, more citations is considered more desirable than fewer citations. All citations should follow The Chicago Manual of Style.
If a citation has been added because it is believed to corroborate a statement, but has not actually been verified by an editor, then it is marked with an unverified note and the article is added to Category:Unverified citation, earmarking it for being verified by an editor in the future. When a citation is missing, the text can be marked with a citation needed note and the article is added to Category:Citation needed, earmarking it for receiving a citation in the future.
